    Every month, the No Depression team compiles a list of our favorite songs from the month’s new releases. July seemed heavy on the alt-country and bluegrass sides of roots music, with grand returns from favorites like The Sadies and The Deslondes, as well as Irish ‘grassers We Banjo 3 and East Tennessee’s Circus No. 9. No Depression‘s Spotlight artist for the month, Willi Carlisle, proved his skill as a storyteller through music as well as through a journey of a first-person essay.
