If Music = Love, then Wakarusa 2013 will=Euphoria
I have been to many great festivals, from the shores of Alabama to the mountains of Colorado, but I have never been to Wakarusa in Arkansas. I dont need to have ever been to be almost sure of one thing: the quality of beautiful people who will grace the Ozarks with their infinite amount of positive vibrations come May 30. I hope to be one of those people because I am a firm believer of the fact that the quality of the energy you emit is what you will receive in return. The music festival experience is the ideal catalyst for these deeply rooted beleiefs. Besides, lets be up front here, there is no better problem to have than having to pick between which show you must go dance your face off to next (#festieproblems)!
The two things I am most passionate about currently in my life are travel and music. I work as a guide for a Colorado company that takes groups of teens abroad with a strong focus on service, immersion and adventure. There is a beautiful humanistic element involved and I get to travel to amazing places around the world in the most conscious of ways. In doing so, I also get to experience the power of music in diverse cultures and settings. In a couple weeks I leave for Bolivia and then for Nepal in July. On my trips I look forward to encouraging students to take in the experience with a special focus on the arts and music that the locals play or listen to. We also like to incorporate a workshop into our trips where we can learn local dance that ultimately always ends up in my repertoire come festival season! When I take time to reflect I am eternally grateful for the opportunity I have to interact with and positively influence a younger generation because it is not the world that we must make better for them, it is they that must learn to be better for this world! Music plays a huge role in this process because music moves my soul.
This year I was planning on starting a blog so that I could document and share my addventures with others. I know I would thrive given this opportunity and I would certainly use it as a stepping stone for BIG things to come! As I sit here in my hammock in Boulder, CO, I find myself daydreaming of the greatness that will be Wakarusa 2013, with its kick ass lineup and its amazing setting. So let me crack open this beer and CHEERS to all the beautiful people who will join me in the madness!
Bands I would most look forward to covering besides headliners: Gogol Bordello, SOJA, Galactic, Karl D, BoomBox, Bright Light Social Hour, Los Amigos Invisibles and every little thang in between!
