Best of 2010
I bought a ton of music in 2010 and for me this was a down year. Many of my favorites did not release new music this year, and several who did turned in good but not great work. So I picked up a lot of new artists and while I found a lot of good music it was tough to find a full album of great music. Every year there’s usually a few albums that just grab me and won’t let go, such as:
2004 – Buddy Miller – Universal United House of Prayer
2005 – James McMurtry – Childish Things
2006 – Black Keys – Magic Potion
2007 – Bruce Springsteen – Magic
2008 – Fleet Foxes – Fleet Foxes
2009 – Steve Earle – Townes
So far no album from 2010 is ready to join this group. But here are my favorites:
1. Johnny Cash – Ain’t No Grave
2. Budos Band – III
3. John Meeks – Old Blood
4. Black Keys – Brothers
5. Deer Tick – Black Dirt Sesions
6. Los Lobos – Tin Can Trust
7. Roky Erickson – True Love Cast Out All Evil
8. Band of Horses – Infinite Arms
That’s right, only 8. Here’s hoping for a better 2011.
