Seattle’s Local Strangers new EP out now
Riding a wave of the popularity of neo-folk and Amercianna on the Seattle music scene, acoustic duo The Local
Strangers released their self titled EP Friday June 10th with a show at the historic Columbia City Theater.
Midwestern transplants Aubrey and Matt Hart met in fall of 2010 and quickly discovered they were kindred spirits and became as their song says “partners in crime.” The vocalists have an easy blend that feels like they have known each other for many years rather than a few short months. Hart’s acoustic guitar is augmented by the fine playing of Bradley Carter on banjo, Josh Lava on drums and keys and Yevgeniy Frid on bass, who co produced the EP at his Heavy Genius Recording Studios, in Ballard. Three energetic, foot stomping duets and a haunting ballad featruing Zoli’s full alto acompanied by a string section make up the EP leaving the listener longing for more. The group will be heading down the west coast for a short summer tour and will surley be turning heads along the way.
