Walking On Cars – Irish Band heading for success
It’s a funny story how I learned about this band. I was at a friend’s house recently and she was telling me about their trip to Ireland. I had driven around Ireland myself so what she was describing was familiar to me. She told me a story about how she became familiar with them because one of the the band members is the daughter of a friend of hers, Con Durham, a Uilleann piper in Dingle who, very sadly, passed away only last month. The band used to go by “Alsononaz” but they changed their name.
Then she suddenly realized they have a few YouTube videos up and said I must hear for myself. Well after listening to several songs I am a fan definitely. They impress me with their musical arrangements, lyrics and vocals.
As far as I know they don’t have an official release yet and have made a few music videos and using FaceBook, YouTube and Twitter to get the word and the music out there. But I have to tell you that if it was not for my friend’s personal connection with them in Dingle causing her to turn all her friends on I probably never would have discovered this great band on my own until they had mainstream success.
After listening to the songs I don’t think it will be too much longer before that happens. Currently they focus on touring Ireland and most recently they made the finals in the Red Bull Bedroom Jam.
Hooray for small independent bands like this who work hard and create beautiful music and Thanks especially to my friend who turned me on to their music and in real time face to face human interaction no less! A rare commodity indeed these days. Here’s some videos….once you give them a listen I’m sure you will be a fan of their music too:
