the big APPLE/iTUNES news….yawn
Tomorrow is just another day. That you’ll never forget.
Or so said Apple’s website yesterday. At the same time around the world this morning (that’s seven AM here in California) we all learned the BIG NEWS. The Beatles are now for sale on iTunes.
This has been a much anticipated announcement…for about the past five years. Some thought that it would mark the end of the CD once the Fab Four released their songs to the digital world. I personally think it means absolutely nothing.
If you’ve wanted to get the Beatles on your digital player, all you needed (besides love) to do was to upload your existing CDs or for the illegal at heart, find it on any number of torrent or dark net sites. That it now is easily available on iTunes is anti-climatic. Or so it seems to me.
The news I and many others were hoping for was the cloud in the sky…moving iTunes to a web based platform that would allow for a subscription model to access pretty much everything available for one low monthly fee. That’ll come on another day.
By the way…with the Beatles now available legally, who’s left out? I count six major acts not listed on iTunes: Kid Rock, AC/DC, Bob Seger, Garth Brooks and Tool.
