Steve Martin album set for release in March
According to the Associated Press, Steve Martin will be releasing Rare Bird Alert, a collaboration with the Steep Canyon Rangers, on March 11th. The album, which will be released on Rounder Records, will feature 13 new songs and include guest spots from Paul McCartney and the Dixie Chicks. A live version of Martin’s 1978 hit “King Tut” will also be included. The title track is available as a download at Martin’s website. As you may remember if you keep up with such things, his last album, The Crow, won a Grammy.
Until more information comes out, I will simply reiterate something I have often stated: that Steve Martin is easily the most talented entertainer working today. He’s really done it all. He’s been a stand-up comedian, an actor, a musician, a magician, an author, a screenwriter, and much more. More importantly, he’s done all of them well. It’s not the kind of thing we usually cover here, but for a real treat check out his first two albums Let’s Get Small and A Wild and Crazy Guy.
Which reminds me. He also has a new novel out called An Object of Beauty, which I’ve yet to check out.
I’ll leave you with a few videos.
