No Depression readers’ poll, with a twist
Here in the music opininion-isphere, as I’m sure you’ve begun to notice, this is generally the time of year where critics count down the best records released in the past 12 months.
Here at No Depression, however, we’ve spent this year with our critical engine powered by you – the Americana and indie roots music community. It only makes sense to also hand you the reigns in deciding what NoDepression.com deems the finest albums of 2009. So, with that in mind, dust off your thinking caps and sharpen your pencils – it’s time to vote for your ten favorite albums of the year.
You are welcome to vote for more than ten, however, your votes will be weighted thusly: Number one gets ten points, number two gets nine points, and on down the line. The albums with the highest points will be deemed the No Depression community’s Top 10 of 2009, and will be announced on December 15.
Please submit your list by Fri., Dec. 11, for consideration in this readers’ poll. Submissions can be made one of two ways:
(1) As a comment to this blog post, or
(2) If you care to explain your votes in the form of your own blog post, please include “Best of 2009” in the title of that post so that I can easily find it when it comes time to tally votes. (To post a blog, click on “Blogs” in the top nav and then click on “+Add a blog post.”)
But the fun doesn’t stop there, oh no. It’s also the end of the decade. So, to keep things interesting, we’re also going to ask for your favorite albums of the last 10 years (2000-2009). These will be weighted the same as the Best of ’09 list, so choose carefully. The same rules apply, although if you’re submitting your best of the decade list in a blog post, please put “Best of the decade” in the title of your post.
We’re looking forward to seeing which albums you loved the most. Good luck!
