    NIKKI SUDDEN, born Nicholas Godfrey, died March 26 in New York City. He was 49. Sudden first came to notice in the early 1980s band Swell Maps. He and brother Epic Soundtracks (who died in 1997) subsequently formed the Jacobites, whose recording career ended in 1986. Sudden continued to record under his own name, most recently for Secretly Canadian.
