News for anyone interested in reviewing CDs or concerts
One of the things we kept hearing when we launched this site in February was that everyone missed the roots music reviews they’d come to count on when No Depression was in print. Considering we had to discontinue the editorial budget when we switched to this format, we’ve made a point of encouraging reviews on this site by creating a reviews index and a box on the homepage featuring the three best and most recent live and album reviews. Since creating those two little homes for reviews here at ND.com, we’ve heard more ideas from the community, which have encouraged us to provide some guidelines for reviews on this site.
If you’ve recently picked up an album that blows your mind, or if you’ve wandered into a concert and were impressed with what you saw, we want to hear about it. Because we can’t be everywhere at once, and don’t have enough ears between us to listen to every new album, we’re hoping you’ll share your opinions with each other and help out the community by turning each other on to the best roots music out there. If you’ve already reviewed an album you think would be of interest to ND readers, you’re welcome to repost that review here in full or as an excerpt with a link back to the original site where it was published (as long as this is okay with whomever tasked you with that review). If you’ve never reviewed a record before, you’re welcome to give it a shot. We’ve created a few quick and easy reviews guidelines in our FAQs for reviews being posted on this site.
If you read that and still have questions, please feel free to drop us a line and let us know how we can help.
