My quest to cure cancer: A momentary diversion
This has nothing to do with music, except that I’m a musician who manages a community about music. And it’s not really even a blog post, per se, as I’m not going to tell you anything you don’t know. Maybe you don’t know one in nine women gets breast cancer in their life. So maybe that statistic is news.
I have 23 women in my extended family, and one of them is fighting Stage IV breast cancer right now. That means at least one more of us, statistically, will probably get a similar diagnosis one of these days. I hope it’s not me. I hope it’s not anyone in my family. I hope it’s not anyone anywhere, to be honest, which is why I’ve signed up to raise $2,300 and walk 60 miles in three days for breast cancer research and awareness.
My Breast Cancer 3-Day Walk kicks off in Atlanta, Ga., on Friday, Oct. 23, and I’m still $1,000 from my goal. It’s breast cancer awareness month, too. So, if you’d like to help me reach my goal, you can donate directly via my Breast Cancer 3-Day Walk website. And, just to make it apply somewhat to this community, I’m going to need some good walking music. Tell me what to fill my iPod with, and I will happily comply (if you donate).
