Hot Time Summer In The City!! The Medicine Show at Leadenhall Festival – my videolog
It was my great pleasure to be involved in the first ever Leadenhall Americana Festival, 5th till 10th of July 2010, which took part on the hottest week of the summer with some of the hottest acts in American Roots music, in the heart of the City Of London. I was tour manager of The East Nashville Revue,
Hot Time Summer In The City!!
As tour manager of said Revue particularly as driver of the tour van, doing the Leadenhall Festival brought its own challenges. I had four torturous (for this Highland Hillbilly) drives in and out of London in The Star Studded Medicine Merc. to deliver the integral parts of The Revue to the Festival at the required times to do their myriad of shows. As Last Train Home, as Phil Lee solo, as Eric Brace and Peter Cooper duo, as Al Perkins backing band, and incidently impromptu, as Andrea Glass’s backing band too.
You see, in an innovative move, the promoter, Bernie Tuck had booked all the artists on the Festival to do 2 shows. As well as the set piece Festival day on Saturday 10th July, the artists were booked to do a free show to help promote the Festival at either lunch time, or in the evening during the week, when the Market was full of London City work force and a ready crowd were indeed ready (or not) to have some un-expected world class entertainment thrust apon them, in a valiant ticket drive, designed to drive more of the equaly valiant decerning music public to the main event on the Saturday .
I’m very pleased to say the idea worked and a healthy crowd atended what was a wonderful day (ney week) of music.
The Medicine Merc doubled as green room and production office and we were witness to, an indeed, star studded, procession of the best of UK and American Roots Music.
Here is my V’log of the proccedings on what culminated in a remarkable day of music in the most unlickley, but atmospheric of settings for a Festival.
