Detroit to host Honky Tonk Throwdown next month
Just a very brief announcement here. I apologize for not posting much lately and I hope to correct that over the weekend.
I got an e-mail today from my friend Jeremy Mackinder of Whitey Morgan and the 78s telling me about the second annual “Honky Tonk Throwdown” that he’s organizing in Detroit next month. The Throwdown will take place on May 13-15 at PJ’s Lager House and will feature some of the best of the considerable talent that Michigan’s country music scene has to offer.
Whitey Morgan and the 78s will be headlining on Friday and Saturday night. Headlining the Sunday night show will be The Orbitsuns, the current band of former Sponge frontman Vinnie Dombrowski. Other performers will include Rachel Brooke, Doop and the Inside Outlaws, and legendary outlaw country songwriter Billy Don Burns.
Here is the full lineup. If you happen to be anywhere near Motor City next month, this looks like one hell of a good time.
