Desmond Dekker
Reggae pioneer DESMOND DEKKER (born Desmond Adolphus Dacres) died May 25 in London, England, of an apparent heart attack. He was 64. Dekker and his band the Aces were best-known for the 1969 hit “Israelites” — one of the first reggae songs to succeed both in Jamaica and the United States — and for their recording of Jimmy Cliff’s “You Can Get It If You Really Want It”.
