Contest: Blog your way to Wakarusa 2012
NOTE: This contest is now closed. Congratulations to our winner, Amanda Williams, who will be covering Wakarusa 2012 for ND. Stay tuned for her posts live from the festival!
As festival season quickly approaches, we’ve got our sites set on the annual Wakarusa Festival in Ozark, Ark., and we’d like to send one lucky No Depression member (and their friend) there to be our official ND blogger. The rules are pretty much the same as last year.
If chosen, you’ll need to be able to get yourself there (the prize does not include travel expenses) with a laptop and whatever provisions you require for such an event. We’ll provide access to the festival and a camping pass. As our representative, you’ll need to blog from the festival, with a review each day while you’re there. The folks at Wakarusa will give you a press pass and access to wifi on site.
This year, Wakarusa welcomes an incredible lineup including:
The Avett Brothers, Primus, Weir Robinson & Greene Acoustic Trio, Umphrey’s McGee, Slightly Stoopid, Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeros, Girl Talk, Fitz & the Tantrums, Matisyahu, Royal Family Ball featuring Soulive and Lettuce, G Love & Special Sauce, Ghostland Observatory, Big Gigantic, Balkan Beat Box, the Del McCoury Band, Beats Antique, Railroad Earth, SAVOY, Nobody Beats the Drum, EOTO, Quixotic, MiMOSA, Tinariwen, SOJA, ALO, Tea Leaf Green, Keller Williams, Perpetual Groove, March Fourth Marching Band, Green Velvet, the Travelin’ McCourys featuring Keller Williams, Gary Clark Jr., Iration, Blitzen Trapper, Emmitt-Nershi Band, and more.
(For a full lineup visit the Wakarusa website.)
To enter, simply create a blog post on this site pertaining to the Wakarusa festival. Blogs posted elsewhere, entries posted in the comments section on this post, Twitter or Facebook will not be counted. You can profile one of the bands scheduled to play this year, reminisce about a previous Wakarusa you’ve attended, or state your case as to why you’d be the best person to blog for ND at Wakarusa 2012. It’s up to you – we just ask, for the sake of making judging a little easier, that you use the phrase “Wakarusa 2012” somewhere in your blog post title.
To post your blog on this site, go here, enter your post in the text space, then scroll to the bottom of that page and click “Publish.” No need to contact us to let us know you’ve entered – we’ll see it automatically.
This contest will close at 11:59 pm PST on Friday, Apr. 13, 2012. One lucky ND member will receive:
- Two four-day Wakarusa passes (including one press pass)
- One main venue camping pass with early arrival privileges
- One signed and numbered collector’s print
Those are all your rules. Go forth and blog, and good luck!
