Christian Rock
It has always amazed me that this genre even exists. As a lifetime Christian and a lover of music the insipidness, repetitiveness and lack of talent and in some cases even proficiency (or even worse lack of passion) have always put me off. The is so much GREAT Christian music in the secular realm, with soul searching, thought provoking and even funny messages that I cannot imagine why anyone would delve into what is mostly drech. Between Bob Dylan, The Mountain Goats (an no I am not talking about Golden Boy Peanuts which has some questionable theology), Sufjan Stevens, U-2, Will Oldham, Joe Pug and others I cannot imagine why I would need to here the Christian music folks “lifting God up”. God does not need to be lifted. He could not ge6t any higher and Christianity is for sinners. I am sure there is some good music in the genre but I have no time to wade through it. God’s Blessings from St. Louis. Go Bottlerockets!
