Chris Cook and Alan & Maryann Frew Medicine Show on the Road June 2010 Videolog by Rob Ellen
Always a red letter day when Chris Cook come to play for us, Chris is the real deal, in all departments playing singing and songwriting. Hes the fore front of the Claw style of picking the guitar, a voice for the ballads that can melt “the ladies” hearts at 50 paces, and a turn of phrase and phrasing technique that can altogether send the shivers from coccyx to cranium.
Seasoned vocals, groovy guitar licks, and prolific writing… A mix between Marvin Gaye, Delbert McClinton and The Allman Brothers with a little Merle Haggard peppered in for country flavor!
With a new album on its way co-procuded by Tim Carter, of the Carter Brothers featuring a stella cast of players including Ken Fradley (Trumpet Kid Creol) and Johnny Neel (Keys Alman Brothers)
Chris Cook “Remembering” out soon
Heres Chris playing on the LBFM Medicine Show from Ullapool (Scotlands Village of Music) and later playing for the Tusday Night Medicine Show at the Argyyl Hotel.

Where to find Chris coming to a venue near you don’t miss him
This Coffee Shop Sessions was opened up by Alan Frew and Maryann Frew
Alan’s one of Scotland’s best pickers and poets, Maryann is a regular and a favourite at the Coffee Shop, Alan lives in Troon these days and is about the busiest man in Scottish Folk “n” Roll. This is a rare and beautiful sibling performance from the two Frews and I chat to Alan about his new album. Listen out for Alan joining Chris in his encore, and really stretching out for a few well chosen covers (listen again player above).
Maryann Frew sings two of her songs, with her brother Alan backing up this time.
