Bluegrass Stars Turn Out for Awards
It was a gorgeous night in Raleigh for a stroll down the red carpet at the International Bluegrass Music Association awards show, and the stars — the musicians, that is — were shining bright.
Sam Bush and friend (and near neighbor in Nashville) Jerry Douglas clowned around for the photographers, and the genre’s biggest names from every era stopped to chat with reporters and wave to fans gathered nearby. While the ladies of bluegrass graced the walk with floor-length gowns and done-up hair, this is a rare slice of the music world where the gentleman tend toward the flashier fashion. Doyle Lawson, as usual, turned up in a beautiful embroidered suit, with custom boots the perfect complement. Del McCoury and Jim Lauderdale wore suits tuned a notch lower but impressive nonetheless. You can check it all out in the local newspaper’s gallery of red carpet looks here.
But of course the red carpet is just the run up to the main event, the awards! Here’s the full list of winners, as reported by IBMA.
