Keith E. Bates is a singer/ songwriter with a strong leaning to the Americana/country rock/ and sometimes ethereal/experimental instrumental bent. His music is influenced by old blues & blues rock with a healthy dose of country, jazz, and even a little classical From Mozart to Willie Nelson, to Roy Clark, to Paco De Lucia, Poco, the Eagles, ABB, Skynyrd, and Of course from his hometown of Spartanburg,SC, The Marshall Tucker Band. You'll find vestiges of Pink Floyd as well as Willie Dixon And BB King. Albert King is a hero as well as Toy Caldwell, Clapton and the late SRV. Funny though, strains of Chicago, Grand Funk Railroad echo in the caverns of his imagination. But it comes down to the stories and music from his heart. Heartache & travels abound. After a succession of almost bands in high school he spent a year at college, then enlisted in the USAF having laid down his guitar to serve his country. Upon completion of duties, he came home to his beloved southern home after a heart breaking divorce. He worked in a chemical plant where he found the beginnings of a new life in music, meeting kindred souls who were songwriters and musicians. At this time, working in his music store in Boiling Springs, SC on a part time basis, he spied a guitar in the corner of the store. Thus his lifelong affair with music and poetry and singing & writing was begun anew. Check out his music at www.reverbnation.com/keithbates or www.facebook.com/keithebates. He would love to hear from you.
