HOUSTON JONES is a Bay Area based high octane Americana quintet. Formed in 2001, the band performs a mostly original repertoire that ranges from bluegrass and folk to blues and gospel. The band features Glenn Houston (lead guitar), Travis Jones (lead vocal, acoustic guitar), Henry Salvia (keyboard, accordion), Joshua Zucker (upright), and Peter Tucker (drums).
Travis Jones (lead vocals, guitar), began performing as a child accompanying his mother on gospel tours in the South. He honed his soulful delivery in his years as a child preacher in churches around his native Shreveport, only to throw down his bible when he saw the Beatles on Ed Sullivan.
Glenn Houston (lead guitars) was the founding lead guitarist of the Waybacks, has been voted Best Guitarist by the Northern California Bluegrass Society, and is a past judge of the National Flatpicking Guitar Championship Competition in Winfield, Kansas.
Joshua Zucker is a Bay Area session bassist and vocalist living in San Anselmo, California. Born and raised in Bloomfield, CT, Joshua studied classical composition, jazz performance and ethnomusicology at Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs, New York, before moving west in 1994. A seasoned upright and electric bassist and comfortable in most any genre, Joshua co-founded the Zucker Family Band and has worked with The Rowan Brothers, Peter Rowan, Houston Jones, Caren Armstrong, David Gans, Randy Clark, David Phillips, Garrin Benfield, Dore Coller, Tim Weed, Andrew Freeman and countless others.
Peter Tucker (drums) was in the original rhythm section of the Waybacks, has deep Americana roots, having performed and recorded with wide array of Americana musicians, including Tim Hardin, Richie Havens, the Beau Brummels, Warren Zevon and Skunk Baxter.
Henry Salvia (keyboards, accordion) has performed with the Johnny Nocturne Band, Bo Diddley, Rickie Lee Jones and Big Jay McNeeley.
