I’m not usually one to simply post a press release, but I don’t have much to add to this one. If you’re heading to South by Southwest this year, you’ll want to make sure to hit the No Depression showcase at the Soho Lounge on Thursday, as well as this lineup presented by the AMA.
From the press release:
February 11, 2011, Nashville, TN. The Americana Music Association is proud to announce the lineup for its annual SXSW showcase, scheduled for Thursday March 17, 2011 in Austin, TX. Returning to historic Antone’s once again, the event will feature performances by Emmylou Harris, the Old 97’s, Kelly Willis and Bruce Robison, Abigail Washburn and the Band of Heathens
The 2011 Americana Showcase is sponsored by SESAC, The Utne Reader and the Nashville Chamber of Commerce. Since its inception, the Americana Showcase at Antone’s during SXSW has become both a tradition at the annual Austin music confab and one of the festivals premier and critically acclaimed events. Featured performances in the past have included legendary acts like the original Texas Tornados, Dave Alvin, Jimmy Vaughan, Jim Lauderdale with Patty Griffin, Raul Malo, Buddy Miller, James McMurtry, Joe Ely, Hank Williams III, Marcia Ball, The Courtyard Hounds with Jakob Dylan and Ray Wylie Hubbard. A robust list of emerging artists have also been featured like Hayes Carl, Grace Potter & the Nocturnals, Amy Lavere, Mike Farris, Tift Merritt, Ryan Bingham, Elizabeth Cook and many more who have supported the scrappy not for profit music association.
That Emmylou photo, by the way, was posted to this site by Becky Miller.
