Tomás Doncker Displays “The Mess We Made”
Tomás Doncker goes above and beyond the call of duty with his newest release, The Mess We Made. 8-tracks make up the politically driven record that shares elements of Rock n’ Roll to Blues. On the record Doncker teams up with the True Groove All-Stars, a band that has been enthusiastically behind him for a great deal of his musical journey. Throughout the record the content is strong, as it brings to the limelight the problems that are in the Country as well as the world.
Heavy and extremely important topics are brought up such as racism, politics and the nature of humans inside of the record, that is thought provoking and intriguing as you dive deeper with every listen.
Doncker, an accomplished guitarist, uses his instrumentation to pen pieces that capture your attention such as “The Revolution,” which is filled to the brim with trumpets, prominent vocals and a dose of Funk. Heavier songs such as “Blood and Concrete” deal with the subject of racism, as Doncker’s voice croons within the piece. His songs are intriguing from star to finish, as each piece deals with a different aspect of world problems that need to be brought to attention.
The record also features a stunning and down-to-earth cover of U2’s “Still Haven’t Found What I ‘m Looking For,” with a phenomenal Blues spin, which to be honest, I prefer over the original version. Doncker’s voice is soulful and stunning as it evokes such emotion; channeling the heart of Doncker’s performance. Personal favorite “Don’t Let Go,” shows a softer and gentler side of Doncker’s music as his heavenly voice takes you away with a soulful tone, that on a deeper level speaks of hunger and poverty.
Tomás Doncker outdoes himself within The Mess We Made, bringing to life his most ambitious and outstanding record to date. He speaks his mind and draws your attention, in ways that most artists never will. We can all learn a lesson from this notable, must have release.
