All about RANTIN RICHIE.
RANTIN RICHIE is the stage name for ex Alabama 3 Dj Peter Richardson. As well as being a Dj, Richie is also known for his stand up poetry.
A lot of his Dj work has been done at the world famous Tan Hill Inn, (www.tanhillinn.com) which is siutated on the beautiful North Yorkshire Moorland in Swaledale, and if you are thinking about Djs for weddings in Swaledale, and in particular Djs for weddings at Tan Hill, then you should be thinking about Rantin Richie.
Richies Dj work and learning curve began in the late 90’s when he was graciously given small oportunituies to Dj for world famous London country techno outfit the Alabama 3 (www.alabama3.co.uk) . He was a part of the “Reachin” tour in 2004, and Dj’d for the Alabamas at Wolverhamptons Wulfrun Hall, the Brook in Southampton, the Astoria in London, the Carling Academy in Glasgow, and the Lemon Tree in Aberdeen.
Nowadays Richies Djing seems to be of a lot more commercial nature, although in November 2007, he did play the all day punk festival at Sunderlands Manor Quay with The Damned, the Angelic Upstarts, the Uk Subs, and Goldblade, which was fun.
Rantin Richies poetry goes back to the mid 90’s when he started doing stand p poetry in some of the new wave of poetry clubs that were happening in London at the time, such as the Hard Edge Cafe in Soho (run by South London poet Vic Lambrusco), Abbatoir Dogs (run by North London poet Ivan Penaluna), and even at his own poetry club The Electric Circus which was housed at The Cambridge pub in Charing Cross Road. In 2009 Richie has begun to resurrect his poetry career and has been making a couple of promo videos which will hopefully get him back on the circuit and possibly playing at this years Kendal Calling and Solfest Festivals, both in Cumbria. Examples of his work will be put up on this site, and there is talk of a publishing firm from dahn South interested, watch this space.
