Steve at Telluride #20: Green Ache-ers
Greensky Bluegrass got through most of their set before the cold rain started falling. The bands play on out here in rain, hail, and snow. Lightning or torrential downpours would put a stop to the music, but in light rain like today’s, the show goes on, and the crowd is out anyway, dancing in their ponchos. Greensky, pronounced “green sky,” are five beard jockeys who are clearly Osborne influenced—Sonny by day and Ozzy by night. They played a fairly-trad set this morning, but allowed for some progressive noodling, especially during a crowd-pleasing run through “The Wind Cries Mary.” Because of their hirsute looks and semi-jammy sets, the Yonder kids have come out this morning for spinning and jigging, a tall order since all these kids were partying their hackysacks off late last night during Railroad Earth.
