Colorado’s Andy Palmer Releases Video For Fan Favorite Song “The Monk”
While Colorado might best be known to the readers of No Depression for the neo-americana inflected sounds of Leftover Salmon, Elephant Revival, The Lumineers, Nathaniel Rateliff, Yonder Mountain String Band, Uncle Earl, and of course Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, a brash young east coast transplant by the name of Andy Palmer has been making inroads into the close knit Colorado musician community.
With the fresh release of Andy Palmer’s latest video “The Monk”, the gravel throated troubadour showcases his keen sense of melody and ability to evoke picturesque western vistas filled with all manner of characters both good & evil with many shades of gray in between. Filmed at various locations in Denver, Colorado, in the nearby rocky mountains, and high plains east of the city; the video paints a fairly solid picture of life in Colorado.
After leaving behind a successful career as a busy public defender in one of the boroughs of NYC, Andy Palmer and his young wife blew westward like tumbleweeds to Denver, Colorado. As is often the case with young musicians just starting out in a new city, Palmer played more than his fair share of open mic nights and midweek local band showcases but, on the strength of 2011’s creative pencil drawn video for his song “Grrr” (see below) Andy Palmer’s fanbase and reputation blossomed into a must see live act.
Be on the lookout for an upcoming interview with this fascinating young artist very soon.
