Lineup Announced for the inaugural Johnny Cash Music Festival
Here’s a cool piece of news that I thought I should pass along.
It was announced today that the first-ever Johnny Cash Music Festival will take place this August 4th. Sponsored by the Arkansas State University and sanctioned by the Cash family, proceeds from the concert will benefit the Johnny Cash Boyhood Home Project in Dyess, Arkansas. This Project is going to restore Johnny Cash’s birthplace and childhood home to, as the website states, “accurately convey his early lifestyle.” There are also plans to open a museum in a nearby New Deal-era building.
The lineup for the festival will consist mostly of close friends and family of Mr. Cash, including his daughter Rosanne, his son John Carter (along with his wife Laura), his brother Tommy Cash, his granddaughter Chelsea Crowell and her father Rodney, along with George Jones, Kris Kristofferson, Dailey & Vincent, and Gary Morris.
And if I may do a little editorializing, let me add that you will not find a lineup that great for $37 anywhere else.
