The Radio Free Americana Airplay Chart for the 7 days ending 8/30/2012 has been published at http://RadioFreeAmericana.com/chart.htm.  #1 album is Cuff The Duke's "Union", the Canadian band's second part of a two part album project that started with the release of "Morning Comes" late last year.  This is a fantastic record likely to have universal appeal, as I think it fits equally on Americana, AAA and college radio -- great music that transcends formats or genres.  On this album, I can hear the influence of Wilco (e.g., complex and varied styles and arrangements, especially on the opening, and my fave, track, Live My Life), and Blue Rodeo (e.g., delicious hooks, harmonies and twang).  The album's theme deals with, well, the union of two people in a relationship.  Highly recommended.

8/14/12 adds to the rotation further our efforts to bridge the gap between you and your 20-year old college student son or daughter who's been sleeping in your spare bedroom all summer. School starts soon and she/he will be gone, so you'd better start getting along. RFA hopes these adds help: "Just Tell Me What You Want: A Tribute to Fleetwood Mac" is mostly indie band covers of the Mac. Also adding new albums by acts on top of the college radio charts, including JEFF The Brotherhood (co-produced by Dan Auerbach of The Black Keys), and garage rockers Ty Segall Band, plus singles by Dirty Projectors and Metric. Free-form radio is fun. No rules.
