Jerry T. Yates replied to The Medicine Show's discussion 'Flyinshoes Review Needs You! Do you wish to be part of the Flyinshoes Review Crew (Bet you do)' in the group Flyinshoes Reviews
Hello Rob, Back in December 2010, I dropped you a line, letting you know that I was interested in helping you out with CD reviews, etc.  However, I never heard another word from you, about it.  I was just wondering if there is something…

Jerry T. Yates commented on Bruce Borgerson's group 'The Gospel Edge'
I am really excited to find this group,  especially after reading the comments Chris left.  I've been playing and singing this type of Gospel Music for years, trying to bring some recognition to it.  Finally, in November 2008, I…

Jerry T. Yates commented on Ulf Kjell Gür's group 'You ain't from around here, are you?'
It seems that I'm attracted to the groups with the least members.  But that's OK.  I'm in the Christian/Gospel Music field, but I don't play your typical sounding Christian or Gospel music.  I write and…

Jerry T. Yates commented on Matt Taul's group 'Five and Dimers Like Me'
From reading the objective of this group, you'd think that it would be literally packed with members.  Surely everyone doesn't have all the gigs they want, or need.  Could it possibly be that no one is interested in helping one…

Jerry T. Yates commented on doug heselgrave's blog post '“An angel whispered in my left ear” A new interview with Sam Parton of The Be Good Tanyas – Part One'
I really enjoyed reading this interview.  It's inspiring to me, to read about the different roads to success people have taken.  Sam's story, about how they made their own labels, burned their own copies of CDs, etc.,…

Jerry T. Yates commented on Honky Tonk Junkie's blog post '5 Songs That Ruined Country Music'
I always hate to get involved in these types of discussions, debates, or whatever, because If I really knew anything, I would be living in Nashville or Austin, making a killin' with my own music.  However, I will say this: …

Hi Rob, This has been a very rough year for me, and this reviews thing might be just the ticket to get me back into the ballgame. I had to cancel all but one of my shows I had booked this year, due to Carpel Tunnel surgery on both hands. Before I…

I know this is a very late response, but a couple of health issues prevented me from responding sooner. Whoever said, "Getting old" or "Old age,... is not for wimps" knew exactly what they were talking about. Now, about House…

Profile Information

Who Is Jerry T. Yates?

Jerry T. has been tagged as "The Gospel Troubadour", because like the old-time Circuit Riding Preachers, Jerry T. travels everywhere he can, spreading the Good News, with an acoustic guitar!
In November 2008, Jerry traveled to San Marcos, Texas, where he received the Roots Music Association Gospel Artist of the Year Award! He is still pinching himself, to make sure he isn't dreaming, because also among the nominees in his category were Ricky Skaggs and The Blind Boys of Alabama! "My winning this award is the awesome grace of God at work, and nothing else!" Jerry said, after the award ceremony was over. He said, "It was absolutely impossible for me to win this award, with people such as Ricky Skaggs also nominated, in the same category! I guess God is still doing the impossible!"
Since going solo with his music ministry in 2003, Jerry T. Yates has become a name many radio DJs have grown accustomed to seeing, not only on his music, but also on the charts. The Country Blues and Rockabilly sound of Jerry T. Yates is not what most people are used to hearing, in the field of Gospel Music. Some are shocked, while others love it.
Colby Schwartz, formerly with the Tate Music Group, who signed Jerry to a recording contract last year said, " I have yet to find anyone else with Jerry's same sound and mission. Even through the influences of Fogerty and others, it is clear that he has something that is unique and all his own."
Jerry's new CD will be released soon, with the Tate Music Group Label.
Jerry and his wife, Karen live about 40 miles south of Atlanta, GA., in the city of Newnan, and Jerry would love to perform for any Church, Church Function or Event, Coffeehouse, Festival, House Concert, or anyplace where people can gather!

My First Release on a Gen-u-wine Record Label

From the very first moment I saw Elvis Presley perform on the Ed Sullivan Show, I thought that making a record would absolutely be the very best, highest, and most illustrious achievement known to humanity. I was only four years old at the time, and when I reached the age of 17, when my band came in second, at our high school talent contest, and with just me, by myself, as a solo act singing "Lawdy Miss Clawdy", coming in third, I honestly thought I had it made. I actually won $30.00 in cash,… Continue
