Who Is Jerry T. Yates?
Jerry T. has been tagged as "The Gospel Troubadour", because like the old-time Circuit Riding Preachers, Jerry T. travels everywhere he can, spreading the Good News, with an acoustic guitar!
In November 2008, Jerry traveled to San Marcos, Texas, where he received the Roots Music Association Gospel Artist of the Year Award! He is still pinching himself, to make sure he isn't dreaming, because also among the nominees in his category were Ricky Skaggs and The Blind Boys of Alabama! "My winning this award is the awesome grace of God at work, and nothing else!" Jerry said, after the award ceremony was over. He said, "It was absolutely impossible for me to win this award, with people such as Ricky Skaggs also nominated, in the same category! I guess God is still doing the impossible!"
Since going solo with his music ministry in 2003, Jerry T. Yates has become a name many radio DJs have grown accustomed to seeing, not only on his music, but also on the charts. The Country Blues and Rockabilly sound of Jerry T. Yates is not what most people are used to hearing, in the field of Gospel Music. Some are shocked, while others love it.
Colby Schwartz, formerly with the Tate Music Group, who signed Jerry to a recording contract last year said, " I have yet to find anyone else with Jerry's same sound and mission. Even through the influences of Fogerty and others, it is clear that he has something that is unique and all his own."
Jerry's new CD will be released soon, with the Tate Music Group Label.
Jerry and his wife, Karen live about 40 miles south of Atlanta, GA., in the city of Newnan, and Jerry would love to perform for any Church, Church Function or Event, Coffeehouse, Festival, House Concert, or anyplace where people can gather!
