You Princes of Roots Music
In the 75th issue of No Depression in print, ND’s founding editors named Buddy Miller the Artist of the Decade. While that’s quite a king-maker title, it hasn’t slowed Miller down at all in the eight years that have unfolded since. In fact, it could be said that Miller is now the prince of Cayamo – that floating roots music festival that takes passionate fans on a seven-day tour of the Carribbean as they regale in the exceptional music along the way. (Think Nikki Lane sitting in with Buddy Miller, mid-afternoon on the pool deck.) Just in time for Cayamo 2016, Miller is releasing a live album recorded on the Norwegian Pearl, and it struck staff reviewer Lee Zimmerman (who’s boarded that ship a number of times) as the perfect snapshot of life onboard. Check out that review as well as great new music from the Wet Secrets, Gooch Nelson, and East Nashville’s Zachariah Red.
