The Dawn of a New NoDepression.com
Today’s an exciting day for No Depression! It’s been a long time coming, and after months of hard work and collaboration, we’re proud to announce the dawn of a new NoDepression.com.
This massive website redesign includes some pretty drastic changes, which is why this message is coming to you straight from the top. As an independent media outlet published by the 501(c)(3) FreshGrass Foundation, our primary goal is to write, report on, and feature top-quality music journalism on the best in roots music. We view this task as a public service, and with a new website, we’re better able to showcase insightful music writing on the music that matters most.
The new site will help unify No Depression’s print and digital platforms. The design, for example, mirrors the clean space of the print journal. And editorially, this allows for more short and long-form digital features as well as intelligent, curated album reviews presented in a more organized way.
Many elements of the old site will stay the same. Eight columnists will continue to share their insights on a regular basis. All old posts, dating back to our initial web launch and archival stories from original print issues, will still be available (though some may take a few more days to show up on the new site).
However, a digital overhaul of this degree also comes with its differences. Most importantly, NoDepression.com no longer accepts community posts. In an effort to align with contemporary journalistic practices and provide No Depression readers with more relevant content and refined storytelling, all web pitches will go through Assistant Editor Stacy Chandler (firstname.lastname@example.org). Pitches for our quarterly print journal still go to me at email@example.com.
Additionally, the new NoDepression.com will no longer have a comment function. Instead, we’re resurrecting the original print magazine’s Box Full of Letters feature to periodically share selected comments that readers have sent in. Please send email with comments on particular posts or the roots music world at large to us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
For any other comments on the new website as a whole, or to report any problems, please write us at email@example.com.
Like the music we cover, No Depression itself refuses to stagnate; we’re always evolving, experimenting, and striving to be the best version of ourselves. Thank you for joining us in this new digital chapter and continuing to support No Depression.
