Telluride Day 4 – Home stretch
The set yesterday afternoon with Bela Fleck, Zakir Hussain and Edgar Meyer typifies the outstanding quality of musicianship that saturates this festival. The trio started out with a tune called “Bubbles” which like all of their compositions demanded close and careful listening. Edgar’s surgically precise bass playing fit well with Zakir’s lightning fast fingers on the tablas. To witness the three pre-eminent masters of their particular instruments playing at the absolute limit of human capacity was awe inspiring. This trio’s collaboration has surprised and delighted all who take the time to listen.

The work of Planet Bluegrass staff and volunteers must be commended. Every facet of this event has been carefully planned, every detail considered, every contingency planned for. The grounds are nearly spotless. Litter barely touches the ground before being scooped up by staff or other fest attendees. The facilities are top notch and a festivarian could ask for little more.
Planet Bluegrass’ Media and Marketing guru Brian Eyster along with being an all around good guy and extremely knowlegable about all types of music is also a new Dad. Happpy Father’s Day Brian!
