Steel Roots and documentary called “Men of Steel”
Hello all!
Thanks to one of my wonderful profs at Aquinas College in Grand Rapids, MI, I was able to run across a little gem. Just a little back ground first. While studying in the field of sociology, I have become interested in ethnomusicology (the study of music and culture). While talking to my prof about the subject, she gave me a few publications called Anthropology News. In the publication, there is one article that was very intriguing. Long story short… the article was called Making a Film about a Sound: The Steel Guitar from Hawaii to the Honky-Tonk. It was written by a prof at Princeton U and it talked about a film he was working on. Awesomely, there was a link to a sample of the film.

The film is still in progress but, if the movie is as great as the short clip, it should be a hell of a good doc. I suggest checking it out if you have any interest in steel guitar what so ever.
Enjoy!!
