Austin-based songstress Sarah Sharp has just released her new Wake EP! A former member of the famed Jitterbug Vipers, the DIY release of her full-length debut of Viper Jazz inspired originals earned her top placements in the 2014 Austin music awards for Best Female Vocalist, Best Producer, Best Songwriter, Album of the Year, Song of the Year, Band of the Year, Best Jazz Band and was featured on NPR’s Song Travels with Michael Feinstein, who suggested some of her original songs were destined to become standards.
We absolutely agree with Feinstein. Her Wake EP allows Sharp to show off her stellar songwriting chops on six stellar tracks. A clear stand-out is first single “You Don’t Dare”, blending americana twang with bluesy sass. Another track of note is the more country-sounding “Unconditional,” where Sharp shows off an impressive vocal range.
