My husband and I have been checking out the Nashville Film Festival this year…it always seems like these things blow through town and the week after they’re gone we’re both blinking foolishly at the calendar saying “Wha—?! that was THIS week?” But we’re staying on top of it this time…
Today we saw “Charlie Louvin: Still Rattlin’ The Devil’s Cage” …if you’re expecting a balanced critique here, you’re barkin up the wrong tree. It was fantastic. About five minutes in I started weeping quietly in my seat and just really never stopped. Tears of sadness and joy, all mixed up together. Just like real life…
Sitting in the seat to my right was a very polite young man with glasses in a cowboy shirt, and a lovely older lady with a mane of curly white hair. In the course of the panel discussion that followed, I learned that the lady was Charlie’s wife, and the young man, his grandson. And the shirt the young man was wearing was Charlie’s. When I told him I cried through most of the movie, he smiled and said that he did too.
I sure do love living in this crazy town.
