Just wanted to let you know about a program my friend Andrew Watt and I (and a few others) are working on called Pop-In Sessions. Andrew runs a studio here in Halifax, Nova Scotia called Common Ground and when we have down time, we invite bands in for a live audio/visual taping of 4-5 songs and stream it live in real time on ustream.tv (you can also bring up past sessions that are archived). We ‘ve had three band in over the past 2 weeks, and it looks like we’ll continue to do 1-2 per week, sometimes more. It won’t all be americana/alt-country as we have a diverse and great music scene generally, but I’ll try to make sure I twitter and/or post a blog when there’s a band I think would fit the No Depression bill.
Here’s a link to the North End Network ustream page where we broadcast “Pop-In Sessions”:
There are archived clips here from Ruth Minnikin and her Bandwagon (former member of The Guthries and The Heavy Blinkers), Glory, Glory Man United (indie rock), and Ryan Cook and Sunny Acres (honky-tonk/americana). Scroll down the page and check it out – enjoy!
