Obviously Minor Guys & A Girl
Some of you may know the OMGG Band, but for those of you who may not, this talented group of youngsters should not be missed.
Multi-instrumentalist brothers Nate & Max Schwartz, 16 and 13 respectively, and 15 yr old Marty Varner on guitar and mandolin make up the “guys” portion of the band.
But it’s the irrepressibly talented and adorable A.J. Lee on vocals, mando and fiddle who is really the “frontman” and nucleus of the band. A.J. was voted Northern California Bluegrass Society’s female vocalist of the year in 2010. The band frequently has other young players sit (stand?) in with them, they’re just SO much fun!
They do some really impressive covers of traditional and current songs from the Bluegrass genre, but they also have a prevalent sense of whimsy, evidenced by covers of such songs as “TIK TOK” by Ke$ha, bridging whatever gap may exist between uninitiated pop culture kids and traditionalists.
