Pigeons Playing Ping Pong
Join us for Pigeons Playing Ping Pong’s No Depression Session at DelFest 2023, recorded in the secret pigeon coop above the Allegany County Fairgrounds grandstands!
PPPP starts their No Depression Session with an ode to the most adult beverage of them all. Please drink in “Water,” from their current record Perspective. Frontman Greg Ormont’s enthusiasm is infectious, as is Jeremy Schon’s guitar work. The speed-up toward the end is highly groovable, led by bassist Ben Carrey and drummer Alex “Gator” Petropulos.
For bonus points, check out Alex’s travel drumkit, featuring a paper-thin kick drum head and equally travel-friendly snare, captured by one mic, an R88A active stereo ribbon mic from AEA for the audiophiles out there.
They technically premiered the second song, “Right Track,” at their own DomeFest, but it felt right to re-premiere the song on the racetrack at the Allegany County Fairgrounds. A “track drop,” if you will! Dig Ben’s bass line, reminiscent of an early ’70s Stax Records vibe.
Third up is “Dawn A New Day,” from their 2020 album, Presto. Del yeah!
