• Nicki Bluhm’s New Album, Driftwood, Set to Drop Feb. 1st, 2011

    Nicki Bluhm, wife of The Mother Hips Tim Bluhm and front woman of Nicki Bluhm and The Gramblers, will be releasing a solo album, Driftwood, at the top of the new year.  Part Karen Carpenter and part Grace Slick, Bluhm’s voice moves effortlessly between softer, country tinged balladry and retro 60’s/70’s rock.  In addition, Driftwood boasts an impressive roster of Bluhm’s closest and most talented friends in the music biz including husband Tim, members of The Mother Hips, Railroad Earth, and Jackie Greene.  If the soundbites in this promo (which came to me courtesy of Tim Bluhm’s facebook page) are any indication of Driftwood‘s overall sound, I think that I may already have the beginnings of my “Best of 2011” list.
