ND Readers Poll, Round 2 – Narrow it down to a Top 20
VOTING HAS CLOSED! THANKS TO EVERYONE WHO PLAYED ALONG. Check out the results of our 2010 Readers Poll here.
**UPDATE: Clearly this widget-polling system is an unscientific method of determining your favorite albums of 2010. We encourage you to vote early and often, encourage your friends to vote, and milk this widget for all its worth. The unscientific just-for-fun results will be posted on this site on Dec. 28, 2010. A full list of all the albums included on lists in Round One of our readers poll can be found here. A separate poll of our featured bloggers’ favorites will be compiled and posted on this site Dec. 28, as well, to fill the role of our ND Top 20 critics’ poll. While we recognize the imperfections of this system, we’d also like to point out that this end-of-year polling should be considered a fun way to not only recommend great music to each other, but also to consider the wealth of great music released by very talented artists over the past 365 days. We apologize for any discrepancies in the voting process, or for the human error which may have led to a couple of albums not winding up in the widget.
When we put a call out for members of the ND community to submit lists of their Top 20 Albums of 2010, we had no idea we would wind up with a master list of more than 500 new releases you folks considered your personal favorites this year (320 of those were only voted for by one person). No doubt there will be albums on the full master list that you haven’t heard and will want to check out.
However, in the interest of making a more manageably readable list for our more casual visitors, we’d like to narrow it down to a Top 20.
The widget below features albums included on three or more lists in our original call for entries. In other words, three or more people who participated in the original poll agree the albums below are among the best of the year. Note these don’t always mean the records fall strictly within the generally agreed-upon definition of what constitutes Americana music, or even what might be considered “indie roots.” You’re welcome to use your own criteria for voting, but we won’t assert any rules about style or genre when it comes to what the ND community agrees should belong in the Top 20 Albums of 2010. Rather, this is your list.
To vote, simply click the circle next to the album you think belongs in the Top 20 of the year. When you’ve made your complete selection, click the button that says “vote,” and your vote will be cast. To ensure your vote is counted, please vote using this widget. Votes cast in the comments here will not be counted but feel free to comment as you wish.
Voting closes midnight EST on Dec. 25. Results will be announced on Dec. 28, 2010. Now, go forth and vote.
