(From Press Release) A church in Louisville, KY is the hometown site where My Morning Jacket is currently recording the follow-up to their 2008 realease, Evil Urges. In a statement to Rolling Stone Magazine My Morning Jacket frontman Jim James said he’s “really excited” about the band’s sixth studio effort. “It’s all live, so the vibe is really, really good, really wholesome.” He went on to say that “There’s something about it. We’ve done stuff mostly live but then you do some overdubs, some vocals, or whatever. But we’re trying to do everything other than maybe strings live. There’s just something old and dirty about it.”
James also mentioned that five tracks have been completed and the band should need about another month in the studio to finish the record. “It’ll probably be out mid-next year — probably May,” he says.
Co-producing the album with James, is Tucker Martine (The Decemberists, Thao) who also toured and recorded with the group Monsters of Folk. Guitarist for My Morning Jacket Carl Broemel, just wrapped up work on a solo album, All Birds Say which will be released August 31st.
My Morning Jacket is currently on the road and recently added dates to it’s schedule that include five consecutive nights at New York’s Terminal 5 in October where, the band will perform all five of its previous releases at the NYC shows. Tour dates for My Morning Jacket are listed below.
