Gordon Grahame’s Lucky Jim monicker reached most UK households with the brilliant ‘You’re Lovely To Me’ which bread-makers Kingsmill chose to promote their bread a few years ago; with it’s anthemic love lyrics still as engaging now as ever this is very much still a live favourite.
Gordon Grahame, born in Edinburgh, cut his teeth playing pubs and busking before setting of to Europe for a couple of years and refining his songwriting craft to the point where on a move to Brighton he was snapped up by SKINT records and recorded four albums including Our Troubles End Tonight which contained the now famous You’re Lovely To Me which has been on national TV rotation accompanying the Kingsmill Bread Campaign of late. This seminal album went to # 1 in the UK folk chart. Gordon has written his 5th album under the Lucky Jim moniker, he has recently signed a recording deal with Ho Hum records and he is recording in Ho Hum studios now and these will be the first dates after that.
“I was born in Edinburgh in Scotland and got into bands and playing solo when I was 15 I played in pubs constantly till I formed a band called the Lost Soul Band who did three albums before descending into the usual chaos and depression that went with being dropped and going nowhere. Still, it’s only rock’n’roll.
I was then lucky enough to meet and play with Jeff Buckley and Rufus Wainwright amongst many others but chose to drop out for a few years and busked and played pubs in Paris and Amsterdam”.

After the release of her first album Unsettled Down (Rounder Records), Alana Levandoski has been widely touring between 2005 and 2007. Having performed multiple times in Canada, the UK, France, The Netherlands, Spain and Ireland, Alana is now home for awhile and has gone on to record her second album in the winter of ’08 (out now).
The new album was recorded with famed Liverpool producer Ken Nelson (Coldplay, Paulo Nutini) and a group of wonderful musicians (*see top friends) in St. John Divine Anglican Church of Kelwood, Manitoba as well as at Parr St Studios in Liverpool.
Alana’s reputation has been bolstered by touring with Dar Williams, Lynn Miles, Blue Rodeo, Corb Lund, Randy Bachman, Tal Bachman, Lindy, Caroline Herring, Tanya Tucker and more. She has also co-written with Canadian folk icon Sylvia Tyson, Mark Simos(Alison Krauss), Simon Wilcox, Sam Ashworth, Colin Linden, Gary Nichols, James LeBlanc, George Canyon, and Colin Cripps.
Bob Harris of BBC2 says: “Alana is part of an emerging generation of new artists who are reflecting the range of influences that make Canadian music so exciting.” Hailed as “the best new artist I’ve heard come along since Mindy Smith” – Maverick Magazine, and “the ‘it girl’ of Canadian roots music this year” -CBC, Alana has gained a reputation as a great writer “with bags of potential”.
