Me and my old guitar
This summer I have bought myself an old tenorguitar. It is a bit worn has some cracks, but it’s a beauty to the eye with its flower decoration from the 1920’s (supposedly).
It smells. When I first got it out of the box it smelled of old cigarettes, now it just smells old. Like something you find in the inner parts of your attic.
It was soon obviuos that it was something wrong with the strings. A friend played on it and said: “The octave is a bit big… but hey…everything is bigger in America!”
This summer I have tried all kinds of tunings; D,G,B,E and CGDA and CGDG and DGDG.
And finally, I have decided what I should go with; DGDG. It gives a nice sound to the chords, I don’t have to break my fingers (I am not really a guitar player, I’m actually a fiddler).
