NEWS FLASHES; two TV airdates set:
.
FIRST,
Thu, May 21 (after midnight, May 22) on TV:
12:35-1:45 am MANDA MOSHER (aka MANDA) performs as the musical guest on Craig Ferguson’s “Late Late Show” on CBS network TV. Set your recording device for May 22. (BTW, Manda and her band will be touring and playing in NYC all week, including May 21 at the famous Rockwood Music Hall!)
+
Manda, who has performed at the “Folktacular” and various local L.A.-venues, says, “What a tremendous thrilling thing! I’m bringing out the most awesome band for this one: Ido Sasson, Dave Allen, Alex Balderston, and Carl Byron. A huge thank you to Chris Maddalone from the Craig Ferguson show for helping us with this. Stay up late to watch and celebrate or set the TiVos.”
+
MANDA is a multiple award-winner, including “Female Singer-Songwriter of the Year” in the L.A. Music Awards. You’re read extensively about her in the Acoustic Americana Music Guide and the Acoustic Americana Music News, and PAUL ZOLLO wrote a stellar review of her CD in “American Songwriter” magazine. Might be a good idea to record the show just so you’ll have the breakthrough performance of a rising star.

SECOND,
Mon, May 25 (Memorial Day):
4-5 pm STEVE MARTIN, backed by SCOTT GATES on mandolin, performs on the “ELLEN – THE ELLEN DeGENERIS SHOW” today – on KNBC Ch 4 in L.A. — check local listings; it’s a daytime network show, in national distribution. STEVE MARTIN is promoting his new banjo CD, “The Crow,” produced by JOHN McEUEN (Nitty Gritty Dirt Band founding member), and he chose 16-year-old mandolin wunderkind SCOTT GATES to perform with him. YIKES! Between the out-of-town event and the annual Old Time Social, followed by the annual Topanga Banjo Fiddle Contest & Folk Festival, the best we can do right now is to publish two days of events. More soon!
+
MEANWHILE, explore our listings to get the lowdown on the hoedowns (thanks to David Serby for that phrase), then get out there and enjoy live music!
