    If you live in Southern California, especially east of the Los Angeles River as I do, mariachi is all around. There are Mexican restaurants with strolling four piece Mariachi bands, larger restaurants with full Mariachi bands (don’t miss Cielito Lindo in El Monte where Mariachi Sol de Mexico or one of its offshoots plays every night) and Mariachi Plaza in Boyle Heights where the mariachi players hang out and you can hire a group for a party. My wife was born in Mexico and mariachi music (and its close cousin, ranchera) is part of life. The family has a yearly party with a six piece mariachi group.
