John Hiatt Contest
Very hard question since there are so many great songs. I suppose it would have to be Lincoln Town. It is just a great song with great imagery. I love trains, cigars, cadillacs, even thought I drive a Mercury. And the guitar and mandolin compliment each other so well. And I love singing it in the bars when I play out. Saw John at the KPIG Fat Fry about that time. GREAT show just after a downpour.
I love Buffalo River Home, especially the line: mixing up drinks with mixed feelings. Since I bartended for years.
Also I would like to say I’ll never forget seeing John Hiatt at The Rainbow Tavern in Seattle in the mid 70’s when he opened for Sonny Terry and Brownie McGhee. No one knew who he was and he blew me away he was so good. Which brings to mind the song Old Days.
Another great show was at The Minnesota State Fair some years ago and I’m pretty sure Sonny Landreth was playing guitar.
Thank you,
