It was an intense weekend!
It was an intense weekend! Such an array of emotions I felt …. My son Cory came for a visit and we spent Friday on the Withlacoochee river exploring gum slough…..It was Soooo good to see him again!
Saturday… performing with Glen & Linda Smith, Louie Palma, and Donna Brumbaugh as a benefit for Terry and Carry Hixon at Turner Fish Camp, just outside of Inverness. He had been in Hospice for couple of weeks…his hope was to be well enough to join us at the benefit …..but not to be so… we lost a dear friend.
Turner Camp regulars are a tight bunch and are always willing to support the cause of a fellow friend! With there support, and the talented auctioneer, MS Donna Brothers’s the white elephant auction went generously well….She was dynamite! Later that evening…. Sitting around the campfire at Donna & Billy’s…. sipping on my favorite whiskey special.. we shared some very special moments while conversing with friends Donna & Daniel Brumbaugh.
Sunday….. performing at the Earth Day event at Crystal River Preserve State Park. The Noseums (a very small insect that will absolutely torture you to death)!!!! were on the rampage!!!…..Some how…. through it all….. Louie and I had a rewarding set! Later, I felt privileged to sing a little back-up harmony with ET Morris…. I find ET’s Songs irresistible, and memorable!!!!!
Shortly after his set, we had to close down because of the rain. Later, we all were invited to a jam at Lee & Betsy Paulet’s house. It was an inspirational jam! ET Morris, Valinda and Jay of Starbird, and Steve Wallace shared many original tunes! Truly an unforgettable evening!
Monday …..is down time and reorganizing for next weekend at Barberville!
You would think that I’m this social butterfly ..when in reality I prefer to be a recluse!!
