Introducing Myself
Well, since I’m new at No Depression, I guess I’ll start by telling y’all a little about myself.
I’m a singer/songwriter. I’ve grown up singing in honky-tonks in Austin, Texas. The Broken Spoke was my second home. I’m 19 now. I wrote, recorded and released my first record on Darla Records a couple years ago. I’m almost finished with my second one. I write music because sometimes I’m in love, and sometimes life is hard. Same old story. The first song I’m posting is proof of that.
After my new album comes out, I’m hoping to tour and blog about it as I go. Should be interesting since I can barely drive. Also, I haven’t left Texas since I was 15 (not that that’s a bad thing).
Since I live in Austin, I get to see a ton of live music. I’m sure I’ll have reviews and/or videos to post in the near future. That is if I can ever get out of the house and turn off the Netflix…
Anyway, the song I’m posting is called “Nothing New.” It’s a song I wrote when I was feeling especially insignificant. I recorded it this summer with Nada Surf keyboardist and producer Louie Lino. We met at my 2009 SXSW showcase. It’s been great working with him because he really understands my sensibilities.
I can’t wait to become a part of the No Depression community.
