Hey Baby It’s a Wild Weekend
I started my week at home in Nashville. Drove to Jackson, Mississippi. Spent the night with friends, did some quality running, played shows at Holmes Community College and Millsaps College. Flew to Santa Ana, California. Made it to Laguna Beach, where I did some more running, this time on sand, with Pacific waves crashing on the shore. Did a little hotel room recording. Played with Jimmy Buffett and the Coral Reefer Band at Verizon in Irvine, California. Did some more beach running. Flew to Las Vegas. Did some more hotel room recording. Played MGM Arena with JB and CRB. Got up in the dark before dawn and I am headed back to Jackson to drive back to Nashville. In the week to come, I’ll play with Marshall Chapman (CD release for great new “Big Lonesome” album), record with Brigitte Demeyer, play Auburn and Panama City. Does it ever stop? I hope not. I’m on a fast track right up until Christmas.
Lucky to play the last two shows of Buffett’s Big Top Tour. We did “Nobody From Nowhere” and “Wings” both nights. Did “Surfing in a Hurricane” and “Piece of Work”. I love to get to play “A Pirate Looks at Forty”, “Son of a Son of a Sailor” and “Pencil Thin Moustache”, three of my favorites. The band and crew are great and so nice to me—-it warms the very cockles of me heart.
Cheers. See you out there…
