Great Early Reviews of The Light Inside
The first reviews of the new album are starting to pour in and they are very positive!
The UK’s FlyingShoes Review called The Light Inside “thoughtful music making of high quality, bound to be widely appreciated on the Americana scene” and Get Ready to Rock, which already named Marybeth’s debut one of the top albums of 2009, called it “another very fine record from an artist who deserves much wider recognition.” Also memorable from ReadytoRock was the observation that “…If you’re looking for a worldwide radio friendly piece of pop/ rock look no further than the magnificent Don’t Look Back. Shawn Colvin would die for a song like that.”
Fish Records also called the album “a collection of mature and fully rounded songs” that “will certainly reinforce her place on the European singer/songwriter scene.”
In Belgium, Ctrl Altcountry gave the album four stars, while Rootstime called it “a new milestone in the promising career of this likeable singer-songwriter.” Also very positive was German reviewer Frank Ipach of the music blog Hooked on Music, who declared that Marybeth had entered “the Bel Etage of world class singer-songwriters…moving towards the levels of more established artists such as Lori McKenna, Patty Griffin, Eliza Gilkyson and Kimmie Rhodes.”
