Get Your Groove On
Roots music isn’t all about the shine on your boots or the twang in your voice. It can also get funky as all get-out. Case in point: the solo debut from revered sideman Nigel Hall, out this week. It’s one of the most notable new releases in my opinion (and that of staff reviewer Scott Zuppardo). And, to round out the pack, I’m also spotlighting an expanded version of a classic recording by Jerry Garcia with David Grisman and Tony Rice, some great new music from blues legend Charlie Musselwhite, a singer-songwriter debut from Raleigh-based artist Jeanne Jolly, and a classic live folk album from the inimitable Roscoe Holcomb. Get your headphones ready.
